Co-developed with Final Frontier Design, the PoSSUM EVA Operations Program provides a practical education for the professional interested in Extravehicular Spacesuit Operations. Learn about Martian and Lunar geology, life support systems, and spaceflight physiology in analog microgravity and Martian environments.

EVA 104: Life Support Systems

Description

EVA 104 covers the background pertaining to spacecraft life support systems including human requirements, subsystems, architecture, operation, and maintenance. Space life support system training is provided in space-qualified spacesuits.

Introduction to Spacesuits

Human Interface – heating/cooling, oxygen, vision, touch, communications, waste, water, food.
Space Suit Subsystems Outline – enclosure, thermal regulation, air flow, communications, micrometeoroid protection, gloves, waste management.
Space suit enclosure architecture – Outline of layers, pressure joint design, bearings, donning and doffing considerations, helmet design.
